Tindley Temple United Methodist Church is a historic church with a history of over 180 years located in South Philadelphia. Established in 1837, its most prominent leader is Dr. Charles Albert Tindley, for whom the church is named. Originally founded as John Wesley Methodist Episcopal Church, it later on became Bainbridge Street Methodist Episcopal Church and then East Calvary Methodist Church before it was renamed in 1927.
